Ways You Saw God at Work in 2011

As December comes to a close, we are bombarded with lists “the most important” lists, “the best and worst” lists, “the most read” lists, and “the top 10” lists.  These lists could be about news stories, people, products, movies, books, fashion trends, events in the world, events in our nation, or events locally.  It seems like everyone has a list.  Now, I am suggesting yet another list one that you will help prepare.

This Sunday, January 1, the sermon is about Recognizing Jesus.  I would like your help with that idea by thinking about “Ways You Saw God at Work in 2011.”  This is not the top ten ways or even the most important or best ways.  It is just reflecting back on this year and remembering the times you said, “look at how God is working in this situation,” or maybe you didn’t notice at the time, but in retrospect you could see how God was working through those circumstances.

A little reflection on the past year is always a helpful exercise before we begin making goals and planning for next year.

There are several ways you can help build this list for Spiceland Friends:

  • Email me, Cathy, or Wes.  If you want to remain anonymous, you can either tell us you wish to remain anonymous, or email Carol Fox at the church email address and have her remove your name before forwarding to me. (dbrock@defur.com, wesdicken@hotmail.com, charris1459@yahoo.com, spicelandfriends@frontier.com)
  • Give one of us a telephone call.  (Dave:  529-3817, Wes: 541-1185, Cathy: 465-0994)
  • Leave a message on Facebook (Spiceland Friends Church) or on our website (see below).
  • Come to church this Sunday prepared with some short comments about how you have seen God at work and share those during the worship service.

So, what do you think?  Have you seen God at work this year?  If so, take a few minutes right now and respond in one of these ways.  Let’s make a great list of how we saw God working.  Let’s encourage one another as we share some of the things that happened in our lives over the last twelve months.
